FALL ARTS PREVIEW UNDER THE RADAR DANCE REVIEW
UNDER THE RADAR
MOST UNKNOWN
A crazy-quilt of dance blossoms every fall just east of Fair Park, where
many dance lovers never venture. "We want to make people aware of
the wealth of dance in the area and eventually invite national and international
dance companies," says Loris Beckles, coordinator of the South Dallas
Dance Festival.
The slate ranges from rapturous spirituals to earthy African, with a dollop
of ballet, modern, hip-hop and jazz. The quietly impassioned Beckles Dancing
Company, known for its subtle mix of African and modern, headlines the
festival.
